Personal Care is available to individuals who may need additional hands-on services that assist the individual with essential day-to-day activities, such as Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) and Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADLs), that they may be unable to perform on their own due to medical conditions, chronic illness, or disability. ADLs and IADLs are basic but crucial needs that must be met to ensure the individual’s ability to live safely in the comfort of their own home is not compromised.
- A&S Compassion Care works with the individual, their loved ones, and their medical team to identify the personal care services most appropriate for the individual and their situation.
- Personal care services alone may be provided without regular certification and does not require a doctor’s order or prescription. Although these services are non-medical in nature, they can be combined with other Home Health services that may provide such care.
- Personal Care includes services such as:
- Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) are activities related to personal care which includes:
- Personal Hygiene such as Bathing or Showering
- Dressing
- Grooming
- Toileting
- Meal Prep & Eating
- Mobility/Ambulation (Getting in and out of bed or a chair, Walking)
- Instrumentals Activities of Daily Living (IADLs), are activities related to independent living which include such things as:
- Preparing Meals
- Managing Money
- Shopping For Groceries or Personal Items
- Performing Light or Heavy Housework
- Using The Telephone
