Our Personal Support Services are provided to individuals and their families in a person-centered manner, that:

  • Promotes and encourages increased independence, freedom of choice, community integration, equal opportunities like everyone else, and self-advocacy.
  • Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) provide hands-on assistance or prompting to motivate individuals in areas of life skills, such as ADLs and IADLs, to gain a good quality of life and overall well-being.
    • Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) – include basic activities that allow the individual to care for themselves, such as eating, bathing, grooming, and toileting.
    • Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADLs) include more complicated independent living tasks like cooking, shopping, housework, and laundry. More specific examples include:
      • Preparing meals
      • Cleaning and maintaining a home
      • Managing money
      • Shopping for groceries and/or other necessities
      • Using the telephone, computer, or other forms of communication
      • Transfer within the community
      • Taking prescribed medications
