
Our Personal Support Services are provided to individuals and their families in a person-centered manner, that:
- Promotes and encourages increased independence, freedom of choice, community integration, equal opportunities like everyone else, and self-advocacy.
- Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) provide hands-on assistance or prompting to motivate individuals in areas of life skills, such as ADLs and IADLs, to gain a good quality of life and overall well-being.
- Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) – include basic activities that allow the individual to care for themselves, such as eating, bathing, grooming, and toileting.
- Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADLs) include more complicated independent living tasks like cooking, shopping, housework, and laundry. More specific examples include:
- Preparing meals
- Cleaning and maintaining a home
- Managing money
- Shopping for groceries and/or other necessities
- Using the telephone, computer, or other forms of communication
- Transfer within the community
- Taking prescribed medications
